I recently competed in the Speedgoat 28K, an intense mountain running race in the Wasatch Mountains, featuring approximately 6,500 feet of climbing over a 28-kilometer course. The terrain was a mix of 65% double-wide dirt roads and 35% single track, offering a rigorous test of endurance and elevation training. I was stoked to place 12th in the women’s category and 10th in my age group, as I decided to race this a week prior and was not at all acclimated to the 8,000 feet starting elevation! Although this wasn’t my primary race category, it provided some solid altitude training amidst the stunning scenery of the Wasatch Mountains.
Stats: 20 miles, ~6,500 feet
Location: Snowbird Resort, Utah
Results: 12th for Women, 10th for Women’s Age Bracket
